Philosophy

Dance changed my life. Through dance, I learned a new way to express myself, and create beauty in movement. My love of dance led to my passion: dance team. As a team member I learned how to improve my craft and so much more. I learned how to be part of a team, to pursue excellence, and to give of myself in so many different ways. As an officer, I learned how to teach, lead, and motivate others so that together we could create something special. Through this experience, I found my direction and knew I wanted to teach dance and direct a drill team.

Philosophically, I believe that a dance team provides every participant an opportunity to grow and change in a positive, rewarding way. The discipline builds strength; the teamwork builds character; the competitive spirit builds a desire for excellence; and the daily interaction builds tolerance and understanding. Girls join dance teams. Competent women graduate from them. My goal is to enhance the process by being a mentor, teacher, role model, and coach. I had the good fortune to have such women as my dance team director,s and I aspire to do for every girl on our team what my mentors did for me.
